Creators of the Zebra Crossing project provide this as a way to create two-dimensional barcodes, otherwise known as QR Codes. The QR Code can be scanned by any camera phone that has a QR Code reader app, and QR Codes can contain a URL, contact information, calendar event, geo location, email address, phone number, sms, text, or a wifi network. The ZXing Project provides an open source barcode scanner for a range of devices, included Apple iOS and Android devices.
